This thread wasn't to start an argument but to suggest that a very small update weekly would go a long way to building (or re-building) trust between developer and fan base. Note I say fan base. There is always something to say, even if it is just a comment that work is ongoing and something has been done. Call the thread "5 minute update", limit the time spent on the update to 5 minutes and then the whole community knows where we stand. Hell, using smart phones the update could be done while sitting on the toilet!

My own opinion is that a need to trawl through pages of posts to find any key points is frustrating, and leads to misunderstandings. The impression given at the moment is that interaction between developers and fan base is not thought important, or it is thought to be too much hassle. It doesn't have to be.
