AI Bonuses...

Ok, so maybe im imagining stuff but why does it seem the AI gets an engine power boost or something? I know they dont suffer from blackouts and what not but I for the life of me, in no plane ive flown be it P38, P47, P40, Spitfire, ME109, Fw190, MC205, can I catch a 109 or 190 in a flat level chase race....The battles always begin with the merge, I sometimes drill one sometimes miss and turn back around, its either I get one quick burst off or they just fly straight and level, or circle up and up and up and up and at no time can I even come close to catching them. I know there is various engine settings to mess with, trim, fuel/air mix and the like but is the Rolls Royce on my Spitfire or the Pratt & Whitney on my P47 not like a few thousand horses faster then that little ol Benz engine or w/e is on that German plane? Seems weird I get simply blown away by a plane that is seriously slower then me...or I thought was slower then me anyway. I often fly against hte F4 which i know is the ligher, less armored, faster more manuverable plane but even whe nI have flown against the K's the same happens. It only seems to happen in the Quick Mission Builder though...in Multiplay the AI seems to be slowed down or thye just dont fly so well or something, I can catch them mostly fine there.
