Oddball,
thanks for the tips.  I ended up deleting and reinstalling prior to your post and it seems OK at the moment (touching wood at the time) Reading other peoples posts they are getting exactly the same problems so I think its something to do with systems and the hotfix. I will stick with it though because I feel this game has massive potential, even if it was released 6 months early
