I like steam as well, it can check your install for faults, lets you interact with other players who play the game, gives you an ingame overlay with all kinds of functions and lots of other things.
But aside from that, the only thing I notice when playing a steam game, is the "Starting your game" message and that's it. So you're skipping CoD because you don't 'like' steam? I doubt you have interest in CoD in the first place, anyway, your loss
