MS Visual C++ library runtime error

this has caused a lot of soft crashes for me, occasionally corrupting my save. This has led me to making a lot of saves, very often. It's somewhat annoying.

just in case it's something with my system:
winXP 64
AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual
2.21 GHz
5gb ram
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS

I've updated all drivers as of about a month ago, don't think it's that.
