Donwload and install this small software, is called hyperlobbby. Almost everybody who plays IL-2 on multiplayer use it.
http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?n...&orderby=dateA Connect selecting IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. There you will see lots of dogfight servers, some with patch 4.09, and some other with mods. You will to make sure to select a 4.09 to fly. The rests i hope you will figure it out by your self  .And its done!
