Hi folks. That's my first post on this forum.
First of all, I think I need to explain a little bit about me. My interest about WWII started some years ago, very earlier than my love for IL-2. Then, you can imagine my first and bigger interest was in ground combat. Aerial combat was just a distant secondary thing to me. But, someday, I found an old book in a friend's house, called, in portuguese, "Príncipes do Céu", a french book, author called Georges Blond. What a found. I started reading this book and a new WWII scenery appeared to me: the infinite skies all over the world. This book tells various small stories about all kinds of pilots that fought in WWII: fighter, bomber pilots, torpedo bomber crews, night fighter and even kamikazes. From the first days of fighting in the skies of France during Phony War until the last act of courage of japanese kamikazes, I learned about pilots like Accart, John Cunningham, Buscaglia, Hermman Graf, Swede Larsen, Bong, Khozedub, and many others. The stories, emphasizing work team, courage and even respect to the enemy, captivated me. Then, someday, I found IL-2 Complete Edition hanging around in a shopping mall. I bought it, and was the best purchase I already have made. Finally I could fly and fight like those I have read. Now, I already spent 4 and a half years playing and learning more and more about WWII. Months ago, I learned how to use FMB, and I have found a whole new world inside my old IL-2, and again, I am captivated with the liberty of creation this sim can give me. I started downloading new skins, skin hacks and new campaings (no MODS, nothing against it, ok?), and now, after some addons and patches, I'm eagerly waiting for 4.10 and SoW. I have nothing to complain about Oleg and his team, neither Team Daidalos. All these guys rocks. And, actually, TD are doing such a great job that I can't thank them properly. They are adding a lot of new and realistic features, and, more important to me, are adding NEW AIRCRAFT AND MAPS. Ok, I continue studying WWII, and of course, ground combat. Then, visual appeal, appearance, and, most important, diversity, are great things that make WWII history, and experience, more and more alive. That's why I'm posting this. I know there are a lot of priorities, legal matters, busy agenda and etc., but, through this post, I want to show, regularly, some of my requests and opinions, and, of course, help with any valuable information I eventually get. My thoughts are focused mainly on new aircraft, maps, and ground units. At least about operational history, I know something about these things, that I can add to the community. I don't know too much about scripting, coding, moddeling an aircraft or a ground unit, but I know it demands time, patience and hard work. About maps, it's even more difficult, at least a good-sized map, following historical patterns, with quality, etc. And after all of this, we get tests against eventual flaws and bugs. I know. It's a hard one. I don't expect any kind of compromise. My wish is to show TD and everybody my thoughts and requests about improvements (that eventually can fill others' desires around here), and, of course, stay tunned with news, improvements, etc. I expect everybody to feel free to comment about requests, adding, sharing knowledge and giving voice to them, to, in a near future, eventually, we can see them in a patch list content. Again, I would like to thanks Oleg and his team for these excelent SIM, Team Daidalos for their effort to improve more and more IL-2, and, of course, excusing me about this overconfident post. I will post my first request real soon (I think one for week, it'll be a good rate). ![]() See you soon guys!!! Cheers. (Sorry for my English, it's improving slowly.) ![]() |
