You'll definitely need a joystick and even with that it'll take a while till you manage to keep the crosshair stable.
Always keep in mind that having good hardware (joystick, track ir, throttle, etc.) gives you an advantage that no training can offer to you. Don't fell into the "I can do it with keyboard or mouse" trap.
