Lightbulb My Photo of Me 109 BoB with Unusual Nose Paint.

Hi all,

I thought I'd share with you my original September 1940 photograph. Situated in the Champagne region of France, it shows maintenance work on two Me 109Es.

The aircraft in the background has a light coloured nose paint finish that extends right up to the cockpit frame. My information is, that this finish is unusual and would likely be white in colour and not yellow.

I understand that RAF crash analysis of Me 109s of the period revealed that the nose sections were painted white rather than yellow. Possibly to avoid 'friendly fire' incidents?

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.
