Default AV8R headset problem

Hello people

Still working my way through single player at the moment, when i though i'd give multiplayer a quick bash.
So i reach for my headset (its the original one that came with the console) and go to plug it into the av8r and would you belive it, the thing dosen't bloody fit!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this as it pretty much renders online unplayable?

Many thanks

Mine fits fine, perhaps MS changed the headset fitting at some point.

Mine has a plastic body on the end that incorporates a volume control and prevents it from connecting. Its the original headset that came with the pro version of the console. Which headset are you using?

Ah yeah, I used to have one of those. The one I have now came with a chatpad thingy when I bought that, it's just has a normal looking ninety degree jack plug.

Ah, so i think that i'm going to have to fork out for a new headset! Don't suppose you know if the headset you are using is available without the chatpad thingy?

I've been using a Halo2 limted Edition headset I got when halo2 first came out, downside is no volume or mute controls on it.
