Thumbs down PS3 Why OH Why?????

In the training mode where you set up a flight and in “ONLINE Play” I am unable to go into cockpit view. It will only let me go to 3rd person of virtual cockpit. There must be something wrong here. Why Oh Why would they intentionally do this. It makes no sense. This has ruined the game. I have played IL2 on PC for years and thought the PS3 version would be great. Well it’s not! Please someone tell me this is a glitch or something. Most of the time I would spend playing this game was going to be online. I can’t fly like this.

I think you need to go through the tutorial (not the whole there is optional stuff too) and also the simulator tutorial. then you can Unlock sim & realistic.

This should only happen if your playing as a german plane or a bomber. These planes do not have cockpits, but they should be coming as DLC soon.

First question: What plane were you flying, or trying to fly? If it was a 109, 190, or any German airplane, you don't have cockpits until the possible DLC that Anton spoke about is released?

Second question: How far are you in the tutorial? You can only unlock Sim and Realistic by doing all of the Tutorial. At least that's to the best of my knowledge?

Speaking of which, the Yak-3 needs the more bubble canopy (it has the Yak-1 canopy) and the single stick rather than spitfire grip.

Thumbs up

That’s the answer!!!!! Yes it’s a BF 109. Sooooo they want to make some more money off use and sell us stuff that should have come with the game. Well that sounds about right. Thanks for the info. Oh and I have completed all tutorials and unlocked simulation. Thanks again!

Hardly true, game companies have morals too you know, not just money. If something was meant to be with the game and they didn't have the time to put it in due to time restraints or whatever reason, the patches are generally free of charge. Though some game companies I question..

According to what Anton has told us the dev team had three choices.

1) Release the game with the 12 planes from the campaign being the only flyable aircraft, as per the original plan.

2) Release the game with all planes flyable but only the originally planned 12 having cockpits.

3) Put back the release date by 9 months while they built the cockpits for all the aircraft.

Option 3 wasn't on, the publishers would never have allowed this, and Option 2 is better than Option 1, at least from my point of view. Anton has also promised that the cockpits for the most important German planes, the Bf109 and Fw190, will come by the end of this year at the latest, and hopefully sooner. I don't see why the cockpits would be bundled with DLC instead of as a free patch, has Anton or one of the other devs said something to this effect on here that I have missed?
