Default Patch 4.14.1m

Good day to you all,

I’m a single player and I have been playing Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 since 2008.
I use the download version from disk, upgraded up to the 4.13.4m patch.
I tried to download the Daidalos 4.14.1m patch but now I could not start the game again. Opening the file location I saw the il2fb.exe was misssing.

Can someone please tell me what went wrong?

Hi Lookaloft,

It sounds to me like you've missed something, or have a corrupted install.

Did you include the .bin file when installing your 4.14 patch?

Patch 4.14 is an odd patch. It contains a separate bin file in addition to the usual exe file that you use to install the patch.

Patching directly from 4.13.4 to 4.14.1 is recommended, but make sure you actually download the 4.13.4 to 4.14.1 patch, not just the 4.14 to 4.14.1 patch.

You need to download both the exe file and the bin file. And, if I recall correctly, you have to run the patch exe file from the same folder as you have the bin file in.

“WinPcap program detected,
It is recommended to remove WinPcap”

Where do I find this program?

Poor you ...

I don't have any knowledge on this because I apparently never had WinPcap on my PC.

It may be as easy as finding the program via Control Panel > Program Features, or however your system labels those, and disabling or deleting it from there. You may need WinPcap for other programs on your computer though.

All I know is that patches 4.14+ don't like WinPcap and that has upset a few people. You can read some discussion about it at the M4T link below if you like (near end of page 2):

Things are not too bad after all.
The problem did occur on my laptop, not on my computer, here your patches worked fine.

Excellent, enjoy!

Once you've had a rest and know 4.14.1 is working you can move to 4.15 if you want! There are a few tips on how to do that in the Daidalos Team Discussions forum, or feel free to ask again if you're stuck.
