Default Newbie here

I've had the original IL2 for a long time, but today I bought 1946 on steam, it's in the process of downloading.

I don't have much recent experience with realistic flight sims. Back about 5-10 years ago I flew microsoft flight simulator a lot (FS 4.0 through FS 2004). But that was a long time ago. More recently I flew a lot of Forgotten Hope 1 dogfights and did very well, but that's a game and not a simulator.

What I want to know is where the information for new players is located. Is this the biggest IL2 forum there is? I would love to find a guide that explains what you need to know to begin practicing. I only really bought it for multiplayer, as I never found a way to play the original in multiplayer.

Thumbs up

http://ubisoft.com and click on forums...

Look for Il2 sturmovik.

Those are still the largest forums for IL2.

This forums is more closely associated with the new release from the developer of IL2, called Storm of War.

In the UBI forums, look for posts by a guy named Bearcat99. In his sig, there's a link to the "nugget's guide". That is the absolute best compilation of info for new people as well as old.

edit: Actually, it's in his sig here as well: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...3/m/9121094645

Another fantastic source of information including 3rd-party campaigns, skins and utilities, etc, is Mission4Today: http://www.mission4today.com/

If the time difference to germany isn´t to inconvenient and you are able to read some german look here:

http://jfs.sturmovik.de/

There you will find courses and also some english speaking people.
Of course it is for free.
