The simple truth is that modding and online are two animals that hate each other. It has never worked out well, in no game. IL2 was heavily designed for the online experience-maybe a bit too much, but after all, that was Oleg's choice. IL2 is somehow the worst sim you can decide to mod. You are killing it with the modding, and everyone that says otherwise is an idiot or a liar. About Mods in general, personally, I am really between two chairs...there have been great, even amazing mods for games-look at OFF for CFS3. It's a mega-mod and it's better, far better, than the game itself. Or SH3 and SH4...there are some very nice things done there, like Trigger Maru or GWX. The thing is that modding is anarchism-because there is no quality control, no final approval by some higher instance. Modding is letting everyone write on paper and hope for a book of fine litterature. Sometimes it works out, most is of very poor quality--or/and it breaks the same amount of stuff it tends to repair. What I think is nice though are the new textures for maps and cockpits and such. They hurt nobody and some are really nice. I think Oleg should have allowed such a thing from the start. Even whole map making. But I loath those so called "new planes." Incredible such garbage actually gets applause over at AAA.

I agree textures and maps and things of that nature or fine...even FMB/QMB mods are ok IMO. While i'd prefer the go through Oleg for approval...i could live with it if it were just those. but it's not.

I don't think so, in fact I disagree 100%...if not more! Your either with us or against us, it can't be both ways. People stay out of Oleg's master piece

... some guys are driving in car on highway in wrong direction .... at some point they hear warning message on the radio : " Attention all drivers , there is one car driving in wrong direction , be alerted ! " . Now, driver turns to his mates and say : " WTF he's talking about .... not one car , ALL OF THEM ! "

sounds familiar ?

WHAT!!!??? OMG. your kidding right? well that's amazing.
hell i see now i was wrong all along! i'll be right over there to chip in and help you boys out! how could i have ever been so wrong?

not!

Seriously...i do like the idea. but not with out Olegs Approval.
i have a mental rating system for the evilness of mods. (1. being bad. fm/dm.)
this is around a 3. only slightly less evil than adding unhistoric loadouts to some planes for an obvious advantage in DF.

The ONLY reason. and i mean only reason i won't pitch a b*tch on this one....
is because if you go back to the Original Il-2....Prior to patch 1.2.....there were moving trains in DF. It was eaither 1.2 or 1.4. whatever patch it was that tonned down the FM of the Il-2 to more of a bomber than a fighter /bomber. Some where that got removed. i think it was to free up resouces for DF's. to allow more ppl in the rooms at one time. But that was over 7 yrs ago.
