As to the TIR thing, yes I use it, That's the little black thing on top of the monitor. The TIR4 is way better than the earlier versions, and much less sensitive to light, though the midday sun through the south facing window behind me will still cause a little trouble. I'm certainly not opposed to using a webcam though, and may look into it if my TIR fails.

I think you're in a good place. All you need is a couple axles with some good quality wheels, a turning plate for the front and you got a dual purpose contraption. Those zero markings might even stimulate some competition in the derby.
I'm just joking of course, and I'm glad to hear you can take a joke.
It's really wonderful that all of us (humans) are so different and think in so many ways about things. It sure would be a boring world without the diversity. LOL
