Default Adding new plane for DGen campaign...

Hello all

I wanted to create DGen campaign with the newly moded Tempest 11 Lbs (new plane slot)so added its name like this: TEMPEST511LBS in the DGen/planesGB8.dat file(and in more “planes” files) and it does show in the planes dropdown menu when creating campaign but the computer only beeps without creating one.
Any idea ?

For this to work one would have to edit and upate DGen.exe itself.

DGen.exe contains data bases of IL2 planes and maps. These data bases would need to be updated with the new maps and planes of 4.08m and 4.09m versions, hopefully.

Then as far as new modded planes are concerned, that is another story.

I managed to do what you are looking for with the modded Curtiss H-75A2, but there are some consequences since it replaces the P-36A3. You may try my campaigns available at Mission4Today. For the Tempest, the same procedure would work, but it would have to replace an existing red aircraft with the same ammo load out in DGen.exe.

Somebody was able to add the '46 jets to the existing Dgen.exe recently, so it's certainly do-able. You can open the dgen.exe in notepad if you set your computer to display known file extensions. Presumably it would then be a matter of typing in the extra data.

Well, the '46 Jets were available thanks to Ljekio Ulmar who had worked with Starshoy on some updates for his programme. I assure you it is not that obvious to add more data like that, unless you are a programmer.

Great news. I wish you luck!
Here is the contents of the Dgen.exe in txt format if anyone else would care to look. Most of the stuff regarding aircraft types seems to be in the last quarter.

I wish you good luck also! I used a Hex editor to edit DGen.exe, such as XVI 32.
