The one that is flown the most 4.11.1 is very bland and boring, it's like flying IL-2 right out of the box. The best version if you ask me is the ultra pack 3rc4 witch simply put is .....fantastic. How come people are flying the boring version?
Computer and or connection issues?

Sadly without some form of "official" endorsement of particular mod packs (something that will never happen) there was always going to be a split community once modding was possible.

Id take a split community with mods, than a dead game with none at all. Without mods IL2 would have been dead long ago. Just like Falcon 4.0. Without BMS Falcon, it would have been dust.

With IL2 you can have different installs. Vanilla, Dark Blue World, HSFX, etc. etc.

So right lolitexas. I use DBW with all the mods - aircraft, maps, sound, you name it. Great new campaigns and single missions coming out all the time. Have you tried the JU-88G night fighter missions? Then there's 4.11.1 for online, or any other installation you prefer. CloD has nothing for offliners and still lots of moans about it from onliners. The graphics are better for sure, but there's really no contest IMHO. Have fun.

My thanks to ALL who took part in this and to ALL the modders, thanks.

Yes you're right. I've just discovered HSFX and am glad I did. I'm hoping Spits VS 109s will switch over to it from the ultra pack then there should be more activity in that arena, my favorite.

Actually nothing. Sorry. I still like getting the old 2001 version out once and a while. I think with the mods you get use to the sounds and the maps, they're great especially if you're a history nut. Back to the 2001 version I think it would be a blast if those who have it could organize a weekly War with it. It's flight model is very challenging and it still looks not too bad at all.
