Oh comon, This kind of footage with german pilots interviews are really rare and after 70+ years can't we just watch this for their rarity/entertainment value?
Are you really that insecure to be offended by such old videos?

From what i could understand with my extremely rusty German, the documentary is great. Very famous pilots talking about their experiences and situation during those dark years.

Typically it means race.
But not in this case.
German speakers correct me if I am wrong but Fliegerasse just means flying aces.
The correct translation would be Flieger+asse=flying aces, not Fliege+rasse= race of flies
Again, is been a long time since I spoke any german, so correct me if Im wrong but I don't think I am!

As CWMV said, it just means 'aces'.

Fliegerasse der Luftwaffe = Aces of the Luftwaffe.

I agree. Aside from the interviews, the commentary is "borderline" and propaganda type stuff, denying some facts - like the sentence "the german pilots did not start the war". Then who did ?

The commentary obviously was filmed after the war. If there are some pilot interviews, this might be interesting, but the commentary by itself is not worth any read ...

This man:

So what your saying is that you didn't bother to watch it.

Soldiers don't start wars, that credit goes to the men in positions of power with agendas. I doubt many pilots in the Luftwaffe had direct influence on the Reichs foreign policy.
For that matter I think its become pretty obvious that there really isn't any difference between the English/German/American/Soviet pilots. They all stood and fought when their country called on them.

I think these interviews come from the "Hunters in the sky " series.
