Default Bf109 Elevator Trim Bug

Was flying online last night and got in some good fights. Got two red fighters and lost an elevator and the engine cowling. So I proceaded to land. I had to use the full up trim to stop before I ran out of runway - as pulling back on the stick was not giving enough force with only one elevator.

Went to bed... Came back today. Fired up cliffs of dover. Forget about the trim. Took off and started lifting off (no flaps) at 150kmh not the 180Kmh usual... The elevator Trim is working like flaps...

Mh. Might be not a bug. Might be a feature.

The 109 was reputed for being able to fly at slow speed so it may as well take up early although it might be less controllable at these speeds. So basically you, by leaving the plane tail heavy, just increased your AoA earlier generating hence more lift hence taking off earlier.

BTW most pilots will initiate take off more actively by pulling slightly on the stick instead of letting her take off.

Try it. Full trim UP. take off as normal with no flaps. You will lift off at 150 and climb, you wont lift off and dive to recover, you will just go straight up.

That might still be normal behaviour ... I mean you basically run with pulled stick when having it trimmed tail heavy. It is normal that you'll climb ...

If anything you push the stick forward to get the tail up. I had the stick forward a little.

Mh. Interesting.

I usually don't push or only a little bit initally but then pull slightly to geht her up. I just don' wait until enough speed has built up that provides the lift for take off. I increase slightly AoA in order to increase lift for take off at lower speeds. That's how aerodynamics work. One can increase lift either by flying faster or by pulling higher AoA.

And I fly online sims since now almost a decade I'd say.
