Oh wait.... nope, sorry, contributing 3d models does not render a person above the law. |

How could he predict that some people would be so stupid as to download an old patch without reading his post or any others? He did not deserve a ban, no malice, no wrongdoing. There are plenty of others I would have banned a long time ago, and many of them are the ones who downloaded and whined about the bumping of the patch thread. Quote:
It is a general principle present in most legal systems that people should not be held responsible for unforeseeable and unintended consequences, even if they brought them about. If they were, then everyone would have been on trial at Nuremberg. Last edited by irR4tiOn4L; 04-29-2012 at 01:56 AM. |

This week, on I Take Everything Literally, we learn that "above the law" is a figure of speech

I am saying you are in favour of dispensing mob justice, just because the dumb mob got burnt. By accident and their own stupidity. Quote:

Since you are calling into question the judgment of anyone who doubts that foobar is guilty before proven innocent, it might also be pertinent to describe the standards by which you tell when someone is deluding themselves. Last edited by irR4tiOn4L; 04-29-2012 at 02:11 AM. |

Does this express your opinion on what Foo'bar did? If so, why not come right out and say it, and have your opinion tested?
You seemed much braver in the other thread; But have brought as little value as you did there |

I think you're taking this just a wee bit too seriously. This isn't a court of law. There's no such thing as "guilty until proven innocent" on the internet. Somebody apparently installed that patch and wrecked their game and reported the post, moderators decided it was trolling or otherwise inappropriate for the forum. End of story.

As I said, whether intentional malicious intent or not he still did something in very poor judgement that led to people's systems being inoperable. He should know better than to resurrect an old beta thread. The reason others weren't banned for looking back on the past years events was because they didn't try to invoke a community response by bringing up an old thread. If I did the same I would expect to be banned myself for poor judgement. He is not above the rules an nor is anyone else. I will consider the length of ban but he in my mind was stirring the pot at a time that was in very poor taste and judgement.
If you noticed I changed the name of the old beta thread and when I have time I will do the same for the others. It's a difficult job to moderate here and it's my daughters 1st birthday today so excuse me if I haven't got the 8hrs a day to moderate, the same as some of you that all the time in the world to troll about all day long. That's all the time I'm prepared to put into this today and I stand by my decision. |

Did Pencon get banned for resurrecting the other patch thread yesterday.... After Foo'Bar had had his little "joke?"

Personal responsibility!!, their was so much wrong with that thread that should have thrown up red flags...i mean MEGAUPLOAD was a download link....COME ON PEOPLE.... i know what happened and i fell for it for about 5 seconds that is cuz we all wanted a patch in fact some of us wanted a patch really bad and so for some of us we SAW what we wanted, but what we perceived, was not necessarily what we got... just read moderators post above mine, definitely some sanction is necessary, whether its a life long ban in my opinion was heavy handed...however im sure alot of people were angry and reported the post out of spite, especially those who "damaged" their install...
