Default PSU recomendations

Hi All,

My PSU died last weekend.

I've been contemplating this one: http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/44570-ttpg850m

Can anyone recommend ThermalTake as a brand?

My previous PSU was OCZ and it lasted 2 years.

Grabbed this from the thread I made about building your own system a few threads down.

Going over 600W is usually reserved for people who have full server-sized PC's with a ton of HD bays all being used and power hungry cooling options.

- 1 PCIe power plug on the card (GTX460, Radeon 6850): 400w
- 2 PCIe power plugs on card(GTX560, Radeon 6950): 500w

I recommend Corsair (non-Builder Series), Seasonic, Antec (Earthwatt series), and XFX PSUs. They're all quality units and you'll be happy with them.

For that price you might as well say to heck with it and go with an AX1200!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I got the ThermalTake aftetall. It fits the bill for my current Crossfire setup and will cater for my next upgrade in about 12 months. It was more expensive than some others I looked at but I could see the difference in the quality. The Corsair AX1200 was nice but it was another $120(ish), and the OCZ I had was 1010W and I never used it fully, so I see it as overkill.

The thing is also super quiet too which is a welcome change.

Just for anyone else looking for PSU recommendations, I fully recommend Corsair PSUs of any series. Every PC I've built has used one and I've never had a problem with them at all. They always deliver the power Corsair say they do as well. I've got one here that is 5 years old and still going as strong as when it came out of the box despite it being used almost everyday.

My next build will have a supply from the NZXT Hale90 series.

I don't think Corsair make their PSU's, they are just good quality ones re-branded, but having said that they are very good and come with a 5 year warranty.

I use the Corsair HX1000 watt PSU in my main rig with confidence.
