Default To all skinners

Hi Guys.
This is Matthew from Asisbiz
I know some of you are producing some great skins but before we end up like the IL2 where vast amounts of skins getting uploaded with no codes no markings blank etc swass stickers no swass sticker etc. I have been experimenting with the coded text that comes with the game. I believe what is needed is skins with that are blank (my preference is to be historically correct to include the Swass sticker as the symbol is ancient and used in other countries before the Luftwaffe used it) however that is up to the skinner. You can almost do everything in the text.
All gamers have to do is back up the original text file and use the skinners text file.
Refer my comments here:http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.ph...c,20162.0.html
Since the default skins at this stage can't be found or altered the only way to change the outlay is to tweak the text file.
for example KG54_I.txt found at in my case:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\PaintSchemes\Skins\Ju-88A-1

For example:
This is the standard KG54_I.txt that comes with the game:

Since the game with my knowledge you can use a skin but when you record the mission and replay it the game add's the units codes over the skin.
So to get around this I found be using a blank skin and assign the correct unit you can get around this feature.
I found you can add stripes unit codes and this enables the games weathering to be even.
Unfortunately I can't at this stage find a way to change the lettering ie if you select 1 staffel you get white letters and white bands.
if you select 2 staffel you get black etc
You may notice on my coding that I shank the KG51 emblem you can also reposition it.
I made the unit code closer as I feel it's too far apart. When you change the text you get standard aircraft with their respective codes.
I also corrected the propeller's unit coloring they use four lines of code and I reduced it to two and corrected the overlay it's tiny.

The 'DE_Num_Tactical_ColourBand' will color the band you create in the staffel colors so you can use staffel 1 for the med and 3 staffel for Russia.
the trouble is you can't always use the correct staffel letter codes.

'DE_Serial_Number_White or _Black' changes the color of the Werk No which if you know the original number you can add to the box.
When the Luftwaffe went from Daylight missions to Night you could create a skin with the Blackened cross and remove the 'DE_Balkenkreuz'
and add the edited one on your blank skin.

I know these letter codes where more often in black so you can use DE_Num_Tactical_LC_3 and that changes the individual letter to Black. I also shrank the letters.

Hi Matthew
Excellent research work mate, you have a lot of patience.
I have used Asisbiz many times as a point of reference for aircraft markings, its an excellent
site and in fact the second picture featured below[4D+DC] was made as a result of research on Asisbiz Website.
thanks for all the great info Buddy.
When I Make My skins for CLoD I add ALL the insignia,Lettering,Crosses,Swastika etc then when in game I turn OFF the "Markings"
Button and it looks fine.
I have not yet tried taking any screenshots from a recorded track so dont know about emblems being added but if you want to get great Screenies just slow down the game as you are playing it then Pause at
an interesting part and press "Print Screen" button then open PhotoShop,MS Paint or Gimp "Paste" then save as JPEG.
Here are examples of My skins/Screenshots

With regard to the Default skin Try geting for example a 109E-3 Skin with No markings then add the swastika, name it "Default.jpg"
then add to the 109E-3 folder and see i it overides the original,if so then every time you fly a mission the default 109E-3 should have Swastika on tail.
Hope this helps
Regards
Keith

Default Skins

Hi Kieth
Thanks mate love your skins.
What I have been trying to do is use the games coding to fix things. What I find most useful is the stripes and swass markings then you can use the games engine to generate all the individual markings and use the record button to save the skins. That way we can recreate proper events using the whole squadron..

Hi Matthew
Cheers mate.
Good Luck, sounds a bit to technical for Me
Try Putting the "Default.jpg" skin into Games Root Skins folder and NOT 1C Softclub Skins folder.
I found this Thread and was wondering if it might help

Hi Kieth
Yes that's helpful. However I tried it and that didn't work. I named the skin default and when you play the quick mission it didn't work in the case of the Ju88A. I may have done something wrong but I had it in both folders just in case. Obviously it would work in 'Mission Builder' because it allows you to select a skin. That's why though its better to have the skins without the cross's etc because then the skin can be used as a default skin. I'm trying to add screen shots to show you what I mean. The only letter that could be left on is the individual letter because I haven't found the letter with a thin white outline. Even with the blank skin though all the squadron codes can be used even the werk numbers if known. And it doesn't interfer with the graphics in anyway. Oh as a point of interest can you create a default night mission skin and add the blackened over crosses on we could then remove the section in the text file and allow the games engine to generate the squadron codes. In that instance have the crosses is a bonus. Kieth can you email me.

Hi Matthew
The only prob I see with the night mission Ju88 is that they tended to be solid nosed C-2/C-4 Variant, but if you can find an A-1 version in might scheme then please send a picture.
And did you say you wanted the crosses painted out?
Also will send you a Default Standard Blank skin with
only Tail swastika's and NO other Markings.
I am at work at the moment but will get them to you
ASAP.

Keith
