Looks interesting have to admit this game's starting to peak my interest a bit - i think it may surprise people at the fidelity certainly won't be IL21946 or clod realism but maybe along the lines of warbirds or aces high if the difficulties cranked up time(which is good enough for me) will tell and it's free so nothing to lose trying it, there's also a bit in the FAQ which is strongly hinting that world of planes may be expanding into land and naval combat as well can't link it websites not working for me but will try later if it's working again :p

FAQ - http://worldofplanesgame.com/en/game/faq/#q-16

"You must know that Wargaming.net is publishing a game very similar to World of Planes. What is the most important feature that differentiates your game from theirs?

Of course we know this. (We’ll point out that we started to work on our project and announced it long before them). So that’s Wargaming who should be asked why they chose such a similar name.
Planning to offer realistic massive battles we’ve never been going to limit our project to the skies. Sooner or later War Thunder MMO will offer a full-scale action for air, land and sea vehicles to fight together. Using our rich experience in aviasim games development we are going to make our project attractive to a wide gaming audience.

War Thunder: World of Planes features include:
• Varied PvP-experiences set in full-scale combat missions
• Multiple settings options allow advanced virtual pilots and beginners to enjoy playing the game together
• Rich PvE content: dynamic campaigns, standalone missions, mission editor, and much more for single-player and cooperative gameplay
• Impressive diversity includes detailed models of planes and their cockpits, as well as tanks and ships
• Astonishing graphics, authentic sound effects, and beautiful music
So, World of Planes is only the beginning of the exciting path to huge multiplayer universe of War Thunder."

I am pretty pumped for this game actually. Il2 has always been a 'survey' sim and honestly, Wings of Prey in sim mode feels as 'authentic' as 1946 to me.

Most of the complaints were ugly green-filter(now seemingly removed), lack of landing/taking off (already patched in the latest version of Wings of Prey it seems), no full mission editor (Will be in World of Planes), performance data(WoP is getting there).

We'll see how this iteration will fare. Gaijin's record has proved that they release at least very playable and polished product.

One thing still bugs me about World of Planes is that they need to stop crushing the darker part of the image. The cockpit instruments are barely visible and it's a bright day!

Good to see the progress!

It will bring many new players to Il-2 via WoT >> WoWP >> WoP >> Il-2

Battle of Britain

If they merge air, ground and sea action it can be fun.

S!

Depending how you implement F2P. In World Of Tanks it is more or less Pay2Win as with gold you can get XP converted and you gain more of it with a Premium account etc. So really depends how Gaijin will work it out..is it a true F2P or a P2W.

VERY interesting indeed, long live the genre
funny how these guys seem to be getting ahead with what CLoD project was about; just imagine if Gaijin were to join efforts with CLoD team...

WoP will also be F2P ?
i thought WoWP would 'only' be.This WoT brother i will download and play some few times (as i did with WoT), but it has few of a simulation in it for me

WoP, i counted more like a IL2 classic with better graphics. But with version 4.11 most propably IL2 is still ahead in kind of beeing a simulation.
