Re-Installing Win7 and ClOD?

Some weird things happening on my system so I am contemplating a fresh re-install of my Win7 OS. I point to the Task bar and something else loads instead, Freetrack keeps locking up in game, button assignments suddenly stop working, etc. (other than that its fine.....

)

If I delete the current Win7 install from the HD partition (I will back up my various ini files first) can I just re-install CLOD (CE Disc Edition) or do I have to delete it using some Steam Procedure?

I just did a fresh reinstall of win7 myself.

All I did was log out of steam (remember your pw and account name). Deleted all installed programs through control panel. Installed my os and then installed my graphics drivers and other needed drivers.

I downloaded and reinstalled steam (they will send an email with a varification code you must enter in order to access your account). Then I put my CLoD disc in and installed. It updates automatically.

Everything works, you need to reassign your keys again in game but other than that....no problems.

Yes...I reformatted C drive. I just delete stuff through control panel first. Drop my cd in and reboot from disc and install frsh.

Not sure why I delete some programs through control panel first though...just something I always did...OCD maybe..lol.

How do you do that?

I thought of using one of my system restore points as an alternative to re-installing the OS but not sure what benefit that will have or what else it may affect.

WindowsLogo->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->event viewer.
You'll have to google the errors an see if the could be related to your problem.

However, a fresh clean install maybe more efficient.
