Everyone says they're only good for initial load times but I think it might help for Clod? Thanks, Jay
I heard that the Crucial M4 range has received a recent firmware update that now see them challenging the Vertex for performance while coming in considerably cheaper.

You may want to check out some reviews.

It's not so important for me that Windows boots up 10-15 seconds faster.

P.S I have only games that I consider to need the extra boost a SSD gives them, CloD, Empire Total War, A-10 etc. Games like Mafia II and the likes don't have to be on a SSD.

ok so the steam (and game) folder is on SSD....and 1CSoftclub(il2 CLOD) fodler is still in my documents folder which is located on classic HDD?

Agreed. I love mine! So friggin' fast it's insane. I'm loving the 5 second boot times. Only paid $109USD at Newegg.

Also why go with a 128Gb over a 64Gb? Mine is plenty big enough. I just run my OS and Cliffs of Dover on it and have a SATA3 1Tb dump drive for all of everything else (movies, music, older games etc..). I still have more than enough room for Skyrim when it comes out. If you've got the money go for it I guess... I just can't justify paying twice as much or more for something I don't need. I put the extra $ towards a better videocard.

You can't go wrong with Intel and I really like the Crucial M4.

I have the Crucial 300 128Mb (a year old now). I have Win7 64 bit Home Premium and all my Flight Sims on it:- CoD, FSX, X-Plane and IL-2 and have around 17Gb left. Actually I'll probablt remove X-Plane as I hardly use it.

Fast to boot and perhaps quicker to pull data for CoD - how would I know?

Very happy except for my ASUS Sabertooth mobo which is great but the Marvell 98xx controller on it won't detect the SSD on cold boot and I have to Reset each time - something I am chasing down with ASUS. I'm sure that's not the fault of the SSD and other ASUS mobos have different controllers. See what you can find out about your mobo controller.

Be sure your mobo has a SATA III (6Gb/s) port for the SSD or you are wasting your time and check the R/W times, some of the older ones are no faster than a good HDD but the figures you are quoting look good.

I have two Crucial m4's, 128gb for OS and 256gb for games. I love them. I was a bit worried about stuters and other problems when I was shopping for SSD in the spring. Was looking really hard at vertex3 drives, but after reading a ton of reviews I decided to go with the slightly slower Crucial M4 for the sake of stability and reliability.
I'm really happy with the purchase. I think going from a spinning drive to ssd was the bigest performance boost fore my machine.

I did a backup of the first beta for this patch and whenever I want to switch from the official patch to the beta, I just copy and paste the whole game folder in seconds.
I love it.

I never used mechanical drives that spin. I have only used SSD for O/S and CoD and I rarely have shutters.

I've got an OCZ Vertex 3 with my sims on it.

CloD is stutter free.

My only performance problem with CloD is graphics card based. My GTX580 is not powerful enough to render CloD at high FPS on my monitor 30"

It's the only software thats bought my system to it's knees

It needs next years graphics card or some code improvement.

Really?
My 580 runs CoD at 55fps+ average on my 25 inch monitor.
I can't imagine the extra 5 inches would be that big of a deal?
