Default Open GL problems

Okay. was messing arround with Call of Duty 4 and it was giving all sorts of graphical glitches so I downloaded a beta driver for my Nividia card Forceware 171.16
Anyway COD4 ran like a dream (big whoop) but Il2 had major errors (gasp for effect), but ran perfectly in directx (which means no perfect mode (gasp again).
Obviously I back-dated my drivers to a workable version so I could play Il2 in perfect mode.
Obviously this is with the 4.08 patch as I have not updated to 4.09 (waiting for it to be official).
What concerns me is will Il2 be left out in the cold with the next generation cards or is their a hotfix I am unaware of?
My system is
XP service pack 2 with all updates
7950gt 512 card
e6600 core 2 duo
2 gig ram

Just wondering?
I still hope to play il2 when I get SOW-BoB.

I know I will need to upgarde and my next gen card will be an 8800 or better depending on when SOW-BoB is released. But as for now, what gives?

Sounds like it's just a matter of finding the right drivers that will work for both. I hear a lot of folks have success with the NGO drivers, maybe try some of them until you find the one thats "just right".
