Default Men of War / IL-2 Crossover

I enjoy both "IL-2 (1946 UP3/DBW, DCG)" and "Men of War (no mods so far)" immensely, but i really am missing the other game when i play one of them.

In "Men of War" I miss a fierce air battle being fought over my head that influences the battlefield with unpredictable attacks, bombing runs that actually have to be planed before the mission, bombs that are jettisoned over friendly lines due to enemy interceptors attacking the bombers...

While in "IL-2" I am missing a real ground war that is fought below me and can be influenced form the air. Dive bombing enemy defense strongpoints is way more gratifying than killing that same convoy again that is driving down the road.

Those two games in combination with a dynamic campaign multi player, roughly along the lines of DCG, would be an endless amount of fun.

I know it's probably unrealistic to see a Strategy - Flight Sim game in the near future but I'd like to throw the idea out there and see if anyone else actually thinks this would be a good thing.

Try Forgotten Hope 2. Should suit your need. It's a WWII mod for Battlefield2 game. Though, it's free, it's quality is probably even better, then original BF2.

good idead shardur.
initially before the project BoB (COD) had talked about doing a simulator of its kind.
A simulator single standard that combines 3 scenarios in a single engine online ........ flight simulator (air) tank simulator and men (ground) simulator ships and submarines (water).
all these 3 and managed by a single engine with a tactical map of the world to shudder.
As the film W.O.P.R.

Thats not what i meant.

I want a full flight sim interacting with a full strategy game. that means that everything on the ground would be handled like in a strategy game, for instance MoW, while the air combat would be handled as a flight sim, like IL-2.

A simulator that simulates Air and Ground combat would be not desirable in my opinion as you would need way to many players in game to make it work and you will also not achieve the strategic depth of the ground combat that a strategy game can.

Well, I see your point. But...

I can not agree with this. Even BF games fairly well do with strategic/tactical elements and "combined arms" operations. There is a chain of command, a players may issue and take orders to/from each other. And there usually no problems with player numbers.
And if more or less "arcadish" gameplay of BF series is not what you are looking for, you may also check out the Battleground Europe MMO.
