Default Patch Rollback

I know if you have a beta you can rollback to the previous official version.

However if you have an official version can to rollback to a previous official version?

You can easily do it if you have made a copy of the steam folder containing the previous version before getting the new patch. Trick is to set steam to offline before making the copy. The built in steam backup is useless for rolling back to a previous official version.

If it suits you better, you can roll back from the latest Steam issued patch to the beta patch that was released earlier in the week (maybe even further back to other beta patches too, but I don't know for sure). Just keep Steam in off-line mode so it doesn't automatically try to patch you up to date again.

unless you backed up the steam folder I don't think you can roll back. I checked the latest Beta patch and compared the files modified with the official patch and there is a difference.

The beta used 'bob_update04.SFS' and the official used 'bob_update03.SFS'. The ******04.SFS. isn't in my directory anymore so must have been deleted. Not sure if or how you could resolve this.

I was just wondering. My dogfight maps I built in the FMB in version 1.01.14588 worked fine.In version 1.02.14821 they do not work correctly. They do not show the spawn areas so I can not choose a side or an airplane.

I was hoping I could roll back to 1.01.14588.

But since I did not save 1.01.14588 before patching with the beta 1.01.14762 I guess there is no way back.

It sucks to have to backup each time a beta comes out or an official patch gets installed automatically. At 3+ gigs each that is a lot of disk space.

I would just back up the files/folders that a current beta is replacing. If the beta proves OK - great! If not delete them and replace with your back up. The last beta only replaced some of the files in the Parts folder as did the official patch.
