Windows 7 No sound

I have tried to enter SoundUse = 1 in the config but it resets it self to 0 after I start the game, I Have tried with 4.07,4.08,409, and 410, 410.1 Same .. But the sound work if I mod it with UP201 or history mod .. but I want to play the original and not moded. Anyone know what I can do?

Have you tried running the game with sound hardware acceleration off? I had troubles using onboard sound and the hardware acceleration (STOP errors and the like). I'm not sure why the modded sound would work and not the stock (never heard of that before).
