Nice flick Freycie! Had an authentic yet subtle comic feel to it.

I was under the impression there isn't much if any difference in image quality between Vimeo and Youtube. There used to be, before Youtube went HD, but I dont think there is now. Vimeo also have a weekly limit, for non-paying members, of only one HD video upload per week (any others are only put up in SD), and an upload limit of 500MB per week. They also don't allow, according to their upload rules, 'gaming' video's. I'm not sure how thoroughly they enforce that rule, but in the past, when they first introduced it, they did pull a lot of video's down and make it known they weren't welcome. I could be wrong, but I just don't think it's really a viable or better alternative than Youtube unfortunately.

Vimeo definitely allows "machinima" movies....that is, movies made using game images/captures/video, etc....the difference is that Machinima means movies with a Story or some sort, and dialogue, subtitles, voiceover narration, etc. "Gaming" videos are simply capturing gaming 'play' as the Game is played.
So, a video with just raw capture of a cockpit view in a Bf109 flying around (think First Person Shooter in a cockpit) would not be allowed. However, a movie which tells the story of an historical battle or of an indivual fighter pilot's career or dogfights, etc, would be allowed. The latter would require some evidence of a screeenplay, editing, cinematography, post-processing perhaps with special FX, a sound track with perhaps original music, etc etc, etc. Doesn't youtube still limit duration of video....to 10 or 15 minutes? Vimeo, I think, and also Blip-TV definitely will host movies of an hour and more. For example, this hour-long IL-2 movie at Blip-TV http://blip.tv/file/1217217 Last edited by DoolittleRaider; 04-23-2011 at 01:12 AM. |

Yeah, I think Youtube is fifteen minutes now, whereas Vimeo is whatever you can fit into 500MB if you're a non-paying member. I'm still not sure how strict they are with their definition of 'Machinima', but as you say, as long as you're adding something to the video and it's not just straight game-play you'd probably be alright, if they even noticed your video at all. Thanks for the Blip-TV suggestion, might look into that.

![]() BTW you seem to jockey the propeller to vary RPM, although I'm not sure here...only from vid, but this is also for all of those who have problems with CEM, and there are a few here...Like the guy who thinks that the spit RPM is stuck at 2400 because of a bug ![]() In CEM, with a constant speed propeller, once the RPM is adjusted (~2300-2400 RPM IIRC, I don't have the game yet, being North-American...) you jockey the throttle to vary speed even though the RPM won't change, the power to the propeller changes, but then you said the video affected the RPM so I'm not sure if you are guilty ![]() Louis PS: Try the 300S in FSX if you have it...Its damn obvious on that plane. Or even better the A2A Spit where you will learn the subtleties of CEM. I HIGHLY recommend A2A's Propeller video to get a handle on CEM. Last edited by louisv; 04-23-2011 at 01:49 PM. Not to dismiss the other good points you make, but there is in fact a bug in the .trk recordings at the moment, making it look like the engine was being repeatedly over and under-revved, regardless of what was actually being done by the pilot at the time of recording.

Here some airfield strafing action at a Spitfire at the english coast. Note that there are some stuters in the videos caused by the beta patch. The pilot, Jediteo, is KIA since then

Anyone got new footage? Im dying for some good dogfight gameplay or just a decent sized smooth engagement of post patch vids. It seems like suddenly the tap is dry here.

No real action in this one, was just playing around after the recent beta patch and thought some people might like to see some more slower paced unedited footage too.
Edit- lol, some lurker's already given it the thumbs down after it's only had twenty-something views, probably someone from the forums here. Last edited by Les; 04-25-2011 at 11:11 AM. |
