Hey all,
I had what I think is a decent idea (and I'm sure not the first that thought of it) that we as a community could all get involved in. Popular games without a strong wiki are kind of rare these days and I've noticed Cliff of Dover has almost nothing in the main Wikipedia site or on other more game oriented wiki sites. To me it seems even more important for a flight sim to have strong documentation behind it and since the devs are better at making the games and less at the documents backing them, then maybe we should pick up the slack ![]() You could have sections on each plane that include the history of the plane, statistics, version differences, etc and then how to use the plane in game, tactics, start-up procedure etc. Same would be true for the weapons used as well as providing info on using the conf.ini, joystick set up etc. Information on ACM would be great as well. If we could do this it would be a great resource for newcomers and even for veterans who decide to fly a new plane or modify some ini files. My hope is actually that if this resource becomes the de facto place to get information perhaps Luthier and team could integrate the website into the game itself and we'd reclaim our lost plane/vehicle info window plus so much more. What do you guys think? |

I'm thinking the same
If I have time once the school year ends maybe I'll try and get the framework for something set up. There are many sites out there that allow hosting of wiki's so it's really just down to permissions and organization. |

I do Wiki for another game site.

Agreed, it will take good moderators.
If you do put one up let us know ![]() If not I'll go ahead if no one else does |

If someone is going to do this then I would suggest posting article or page requests on this forum. People will probably contribute on an ad hoc basis if the subject interests them.

We have a wiki setup and ready to go at airwarfare
Airwarfare: Storm Of War Wiki I'll be happy to set up volunteers into a group that can moderate and add content. |

Both of those look promising. Though unless there is an English version for the Russian site one I doubt I'd use it much. Though both versions could bounce off each other for ideas.
The Airwarfare one is cool because it's got a news, downloads etc. How long have you guys been up? My only concern is the possibility of something like IL2skins.com happening where a great resource gets neglected or shut down. Having the wiki on a separate site (like wikia.com or similar) has some benefits as administration can be passed around as people fall in and out of time/commitment. Though if the information is backed up you could always transplant it should the worst happen. What do you guys think? |
