How to see Frames per second in game

Hi All,
new to CoD and reading the forums about getting the best from the game in turms of playability and i see a lot of people talking about FPS. How do i get to turn this on in game? i read that you can press ctrl & TAB but that brings up the Steam account and shift & TAB brings up commands. sorry to be thick but need help,
