A simple test mission, using the online Cross vs Rondel map.
You can chose between a BF 109 E3 for blues (player, default) and a Spitfire 1 for reds, both with default weapons and only 30% fuel. You can modify the default planes/loadouts by pressing Custom button. The plane not chosen by player will be taken by AI (both pilots set on average). Much better FPS than with default single player map. It can be used for CEM plane learning/testing and/or 1/1 dogfights. Unpack it into C:/Users/<user_name>/Documents/1C../IL2CoD../missions/single and pick it up in-game from Single missions download |

Thats basically what I've been doing. Between that map, turning things down and overclocking my graphics card (a 4870) I've been able to get a reasonable enough frame rate to play around with gunnery etc. This game has made me say "sweet" a few times.
In regards to weapon loadout, the system for saving is counter-intuitave (having not read about it in the manual) but after a few goes I managed to replicate somewhat ammunition loadings I found here (although the game is missing one or more bullet types -not sure if it is date related): http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/BoB.htm Quote:

Thank you adonys.
Very useful to familarize oneself with the cockpit, start procedure and shooting without the graphical burden of the real map. Maybe it can be refined with the choice of Hurricane and G50 and a nice menu picture ![]() |

there's no point in doing that, as you can customize the mission before launching it:
- to switch sides, just click on the other pilot image (the one above the airplane's image) - to switch planes, just double click on airplane's image and pick whatever airplane you want to try Last edited by adonys; 04-02-2011 at 09:23 AM. |
