Merlin, don't pay attention to what Tree is talking. Oleg's never given a certain release date to us (and Tree knows that). We got one by UBI indeed in november 2006 but that was before the decision to make a totally new engine.

1C Soft Club mentioned that "Il-2 The Battle of Britain" will come out in Spring 2011, at least in Russia.

@Tree: peace!

merlin ignore oleg saying on the Mystic Puma video that SOW will be released in November 2007 and the Interview where he said thousands will be playing SOW before October 2010, these things never happened.

@ foo, peace to you brother and I truly hope you have a very merry crimbo and new year, we may disagree on all manner of things foo, but i do have great respect for yourself and your work.

Actually I agree with all of you. Just thinking, are all this candys (colour of the flames ect...) we reaily need now or when the game will be released... Many times we heard, on maximum settings we can play after few years from release date becouse todays hardware can not handle this game.

I do not want the game to which I'll need or spent a computer for 2000 + Eur. I assume that mr. Oleg knows this and is in a dilemma now, not for me, but for a lot of other potential users.

Once again.
Oleg and his team do a great job. No doubt !
He said, the game have a lot of bugs. Do not waste time on candys but the things that will make the game playible. This is just my opinion.

I love Il-2 very much, and I am very grateful to mr. Oleg some 10 years ..

Mysticpuma:
I love jour videos too... big thx.

rgr.

You never heard that from the devs themselves, but only through (mostly unfounded) speculation. There is no indication at the moment that SoW will have remarkably high system requirements (beyond what can be expected from a flight sim anyway). And details like the exhaust flames won't have any impact on performance.

It's probably not the same people who work on the core engine and on such details. Getting rid of the bugs is priority but that doesn't rule out that other areas get worked on. Oleg has indicated in the past that there's a long list of small things he would like to get into the sim if the schedule allows, but not that the release will be postponed for to such details.

Of course there will still be dozens of posts after release, why feature xyz wasn't included and that it would have been better to delay the game for them

You won't have to buy the very top end computer to run SOW. Oleg has a history of providing options that turn down features which will allow average computers to run the game.

We are a fine set of bedfellows aren't we: Oleg and his community.

Any other game announced several years ago but still not available would have been bypassed by the paying public who would have bought something (many things) else and by the time the game they were waiting for came out it would be technologically out of date and not worth buying.

But we have a strange relationship of trust with Oleg. We believe that when SoW comes out it will blow the socks off anything else available and will continue to do so for many years. And so we are reluctantly (if not willingly) waiting.

Oleg truly has cast a spell on us and we hope he will deliver. We're all really thinking the same thing, "why so long?". But we trust he will deliver. And because we believe it will be better than anything else.... and because we are grateful for something so special for such a small market... we continue to wait.... and will not challenge him too hard on it. And so we wait.

But we all wish the wait was over and we shouldn't flame people who get frustrated and ask the inevitable question now and again. Oleg may be a Saint but he's not a God... Yet.

S!

Wanna place bets? Duke Dukem Forever or Storm Of War comes out first? Both have been under development for a long time, both have been shown in public with actual gameplay. Duke Nukem will get a demo though. So which one is it, DNF or SoW? And this is just for laughs!!

What are you comparing this to?

This is a flight simulation not a FPS or an RPG you can't just spit it out it takes a lot more than you think, especially when you have someone like Oleg who CLEARLY has taken it upon himself and his team to produce an even greater simulation than his first.

I would agree normally but this time there isn't anyone else developing a sim like this.
All the others that have started are either more console biased or non combat aviation.
Oleg is the last one seriously developing a new WW11 sim,we have to hope he is going to get it right, lets hope he is the god of the sim world.
