Maybe we'll start with Hurris in France in the winter of 39-40, moving through to Dunkirk in May, the channel in June, and mayhem in July-Sept, with fog, frost and drizzle in October..... I hope so. I'd miss having a bit of snow around. |

Good point. I hope you're correct, although I have this inner voice telling me that Oleg has already stated they will only be starting with the BoB (the RAF BoB-timeline: 10_July-31_October)

Didnt someone say they grew fields of Flax (linseed oil plants) during the war years which have this lilac colour?

Ah! Flax!
Googling 'flax field image' will result in hundreds of similar pictures. I'd say that Oleg has got the colur about right, though how much flax was grown in SE England during the BoB period I've no idea. Does anyone have a contact in the Ministry of Agriculture? |

Linseed oil (made from flax seeds) was used to make wood paint, and was used for oiling/preserving wood.
It seems there was a demand for it in 1940: http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi...400219.2.121.7 It was used for oiling rifles too: http://forums.gunboards.com/showthre...e-raw-facts%29 .

Continuing what Oleg mentioned a week or two ago, there appears to be an assumption that the white balance used in the OP's photos is good...
Can this assumption be turned into a known fact? Secondly, there appears to be some light smog in the photos, without anything similar to compare to in the SoW BoB shots. |

Then then look for the color of wing, espcially in shadow, if you think it is right. Then try to learn what is distortion of colors and what is distortion of contrast in each channel of RGB with its result. Also, interesting how is possible in principle to compare 12:00 on the screen shot with the everning shots on photos (again also with distorted colors) and even when said that there are not final colors and the shot just show the shrapness of the ground from altitude. |
