As it's summer and the season for airshows I thought I'd post a thread whereby you can post details of upcoming airshows.
Don't know if anyone is up my neck of the woods this weekend but it's the 10th Windermere Airshow. http://www.windermereairshow.co.uk/ Highlights include the Red Arrows, BoB memorial flight, aerostar yak team and breitling wing walkers. It's great for photography as the fells and lakes provide a fantastic backdrop.....when it ain't raining!!! Edit: just found the following links to highlights of last years show presented by my mate Kim! http://www.lakestv.net/lakestv-loadp...type=highwinds http://www.lakestv.net/lakestv-loadp...type=highwinds Last edited by Gilly; 07-23-2010 at 08:56 AM. |

Up here in the Pacific Northwest there are two coming up I can think of.
North of the border the great Abbotsford International Airshow/Canada's National Airshow http://www.abbotsfordairshow.com And a smaller more local show South of the border in Arlington, just north of Seattle. http://www.arlingtonflyin.org/ |

![]() You'll be getting the Spitfire, Hurricane, Dakota from the BBMF this year over the weekend of the 24th/25th july. 8th August we've got the BBMF (Lancaster/Spitfire/Hurricane) Red Arrows and others i cant think of from memory here at Blackpool performing on the sea front. Makes for some good viewing!! Checking the BBMF's display chart... we wont see them here in Blackpool when they do your display because the same three aircraft are performing in Sunderland on the 25th after displaying at Windemere....so they will be refueling and overnight stay at Carlisle more than likely. |

Yeah, that was insane. I saw that on the news, and then though of why the pilot was doing that anyway? FA-18s are known to have the wing dip left or right, when doing slow passes like that (or just a slow pass in general). Or at least, from the C-E versions they are. I can't remember why off hand, but it's something they're not good at. One of their aerodynamic flaws or something?

i think he just stalled, and of course being that close to the ground couldnt dump the nose to gain enough air speed before he'd hit the ground so bailed.

It was part of the display routine though, was just a practise run wasnt it?
Point being, the pilot had done this move many times before and had logged up a huge amount of flying hours in this particular aircraft. Right now all anyone can do really is speculate until the crash is looked into some more. |
