it will require A LOT of save/load...even on debir, the easist mobs fights will yield wanderer scroll if you get lucky...and apparently
1, each chest on the battle field is independent of each other, i had 2 chests that yielded 100ish gold each, also 2 chests that yielded a wanderer scroll+a good spell scroll, also 2 chests that yielded a mind rune+a might rune, and it was against only like 15 devilfish... 2, the slot of the chest on the battle field has nothing to do with it's contents, it's how you place your troops, how you fight that determine what chest will spawn. 3, there is no limit to how many wanderer scrolls per continent, even on debir, i was able to dig up four wanderer scrolls with only half of the continents cleared...but man it took like 12 hours of saving/loading... 4, it will get easier once you upgrade to 3 chest per battle, and as you progress through the game fights will also have higher and higher chance of yielding a wanderer scroll because the difficulty of the continents increases. i am not going for one wanderer per battle, i am just going for any one of crystal/rune/really good spell scroll/wanderer scroll per battle, which is extremely painful already... so...anyone else want to give it a try? warning: you will save/load at least 30 times on average for every single fight... I have given this a try. It's all about digging after each unit has had its turn and checking what happens. In essence, every round with a 5-unit army gives you 5 different dig-outs. This way you can easily start with a call collosus spell in the training fights, which makes the start as easy as it gets.

Heh, funny to read threads like this one. There was some guy on here a while ago who complained bitterly about this kind of grinding, and how completely boring it was. Can't remember who it was though.
I don't think I could possibly have the patience to do something like this, just waiting for fortune to give me the scrolls I want. |

heh...
but in all seriousness, is it possible to make a mod that will tell you what chests will spawn? |

I did this a lot for my high-score run, but only up until a certain extent. Playing a warrior, I needed the +10 intelligence wanderer scroll by the time I initially land on Verona so that I could get Elenhel early (and then the wanderer scroll abuse REALLY starts).
Call Colossus by the time you hit 2,000 leadership was also key so that you had an early red dragon; it makes for an easy cleanup of Scarlet, Bolo, and Rusty Anchor. Later in the game I reloaded up to a max of 3 times in a particular battle and just took the best result of the 3 hands dealt to me. |

![]() ![]() ^ what my spellbook looks like after clearing debir and most of scarlet....i also dug out a battle cry scroll which doesn't exist in my game according to scanner report... after extensive saving/loading on debir and scarlet, i think the chance of yielding a wanderer scroll/rune/crystal/spell scroll/gold is the same for all the continents, it's just that you get more gold and better scrolls as the difficulty of the continents increases. for wanderer scroll/runes/crystals the amount (which is 1 for wanderer scroll/runes, a small number around 3 for crystals) stays the same. and i don't think the system ranks the wanderer scrolls either. this is just what i got so far, more testing is needed to yield more precise conclusions. this means that if you are gonna do this kind of saving/loading for maximum chest profit, you gotta pick the dragon pet with chest digging skill and start from training! |

KBscanner has no idea about items dug from chests either. Since it is random, items that qualify to be found from random dug chest can almost be considered 'core' and will always be found if you dig carefully enough. I think it includes both slippery cuirras and twinkling boots.

Zechnophobe, the chests on continents that you press D to dig out ARE included in the scanner report so i am assuming you are saying that twinkling boots can be found on the battle field chest dug out by your pet dragon?
man i'd really like two twinkling boots...slippery cuirass sometimes you can get 2 to begin with, just like hand of necropolis but twinkling boots seems to be just one per game. btw, this is the game i am playing right now...basically scaly set 20% + cuirass 10% + twinkling boots 15% + 7% medal = 52% physical reduction, throw in Axe of Ice. Class III for another 10%, and the 20% from droids' "armor", we are looking at 82%-physical-damage-reduction droids... Location Container Item Quantity Requirement for additional assortment Actor Bonsu Smile Scale Armor 1 Continent of Elon Merchant Scale Shield 1 Continent of Verona Citizens House Scale Armor 1 Nameless Island Odlom Scaly Bracelet 1 Rusty Anchor Island Bruges Slippery Cuirass 1 Sheterra Island Bloody Pentagram Twinkling Boots 1 if you can indeed get 2 twinkling boots, then 82 + 15=97 which means 95% physical damage reduction droids...droids you say? more like droids on ROIDS! Yes, by 'dug chests' I meant the ones you get on the battlefield, not the ones on the adventure map.
Having all the physical resist stuff is cool, but it is pretty rare. I think I've only played one run through where I got the scale set completely. |
