Default Game Entity Data

Hi Guys,

I've uploaded the some of the game's entity information on this site: http://www.game-data.net (MoW Browser). (For game version 1.11.03).

This provides some of the unit properties, mainly for vehicles, and other associated data. You can now browse through properties of the various tanks, vehicles, etc, and examine their armour thicknesses, weapon types, etc.

The aim of this data is to allow a gamer to understand why a particular unit will defeat (or get beaten by) any other particular unit. At the moment, with the data presented in its raw form, this is probably not possible since there are so many modifiers to understand and also how the data is used in the calculations for combat performance.

What I aim to do is delve deeper into the unit and weapon properties and try to "reverse engineer" the combat mechanics so that I can present more meaningful information, i.e. the key parameters that determine a unit's chances of winning (or surviving) in any given condition against any opponent types.

From what I can see at the moment, a unit's properties include armour thickness and slope and weapon/projectile properties include velocity, damage and mass. There's also blastwave data for many projectile types. Most of the properties seem to have modifiers (e.g. are a function of range, motion, etc,). In short, the game is quite sophisticated so it might take some time to reveal the key properties and how to interpret them. (This is unlike Company Of Heroes, where the combat outcome is determine by a fairly straightforward hitpoint/damage calc.).

So, if your are interested in this sort of stuff, keep watching the site for further updates! In the meantime, any comments, questions or suggestions will be gratefully received.
