Default Join Errors???

Hey guys,

I convinced a buddy of mine to grab this game over the holidays and we settled in a for a couple of online matches last night only to be frustrated for 30min. We tried everything, Invites, Custom Matches etc but over and over and over we both kept getting join errors. Yet other players joined and I was able to play with them. What gives? Anybody else go through this? I hate to say it but the online issues are killing this game, they are not terrible but 30min of frustration is more than enough to make even someone moderately interested say to hell with it. We gave up and played MW2 and I was little embarrassed I've been talking this game up A LOT. Any thoughts on what we may have done wrong???

Port settings? Im no computer wiz and cant tell you how but i think you may need to forward some ports so that you can play together. I think you both need at lesed 1 port that matches, but i could be wrong..

P-51 is right. It definatly sounds like you are both using routers that are blocking certain ports that are needed to connect to each other. A quick search for PS3 or xbox ports will give you the port numbers that need forwarding. Then you can use portforward.com to help with your routers settings if you need any. If that doesn't work you can try putting your console in the DMZ.

guys above are right.

It used to happen with me when trying to connect to games with a friend. We were effectively blocking each other. Its all about opening the right ports etc and messing about. Out of my league though, but a few in here knwo their stuff so they can help you out.

Kudos for getting someone else to buy the game though

One way is asking someone you know to host a game. And he has to invite you and your friend to his game. This wont work everytime tho but if you are in a horry it's worth of trying.

I would personally recommend the DMZ route straight off - then you will never have this problem with any game. Opening ports per game gets tedious fast - a DMZ essentially opens all ports Just don't put a PC in a DMZ - unless you want a virus zoo lol
