1. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack
2. Spore
3. World of Warcraft: Battle Chest
4. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
5. Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning
6. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
7. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe
8. World Of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Exp Pk Collector's Ed
9. Fallout 3
10. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Expansion Pack
11. Call Of Duty: World At War
12. The Sims 2 FreeTime Expansion Pack
13. World Of Warcraft

15. Warcraft III Battle Chest
16. The Sims 2 Apartment Life Expansion Pack
17. Crysis
18. Left 4 Dead
19. Diablo Battle Chest
20. The Orange Box

Do you see a flight sim on that list, or even a game with a plane in it? There are MMOs, RPGs, shooters. That's the games market. That's the PC games market in specific.

SOW:BOB occupies the tiniest of genres out there that absolutely no one cares about. That is why the only flight sims being made are now coming out of Russia and why Microsoft killed Flight Simulator and the studio that produced it.

Wake up, folks. You are in the smallest of minorities. No one has heard of this game. No one will ever hear of this game, but a very select few in the PC gaming market. SOW:BOB is being anticipated by no one. The sooner you can come to terms with that, the better.
wow dood, you should calm down about 1000%, you act like a flight sim fucked your wife

In Tanner's world, quanity = quality.

I guess in this throw-away society Tanner buys into the quanity aurgument. Who cares if the game won't be played at all in year's time when the yearly 60 dollar sequel comes out.

With a few exceptions, most of those games on his list won't be played by the majority of the gamers that buy them after a year or so.

IL2 on the other hand is still being played after nearly a decade. Sure the game lacks "whoring itself out" to mass market appeal, but it is clear the game is for people who want a deep, realistic, and detailed flight sim experience.

The reason IL2 isn't more mainstream is most gamers lack the patience to deal with the steep learning curve the game presents. They want to fly, shoot bullets, and get instant success as their online opponent blows up in a hollywood style fireball while screaming "pwned!" through their microphone. What really happens is they fire up the game, go online, and have their asses handed to them by virtual pilots using realistic air to air combats tactics and skills. What follows is, "this game sucks, (insert game) is so much better than this crap!" Then they leave.

Tanner, I'm sorry you had your ass handed to you in air-to-air combat. There is nothing wrong with sticking to games with less depth and skill requirement - just like kids have tricycles and training wheels when they aren't ready to ride a bike, there are a bunch of games to suit the weak attention span and skill set of average gamers. They are quite popular I hear.
