I used to love playing Falcon4 especially with it's amazing dynamic campaign. The game had a massive learning curve but was very rewarding and as close to real flying as you can get in your home. Every key on the keyboard was assigned to a specific function and you could use the mouse to click the controls in the cockpit etc. The game manual was an inch thick! There will never be a sim like this on the xbox and for that reason I would prefer to see another WW2 or even WW1 era flight sim on the console
Yeah but if they can add keyboard and pc stick support to console there is no reason that they can't make a any flight sim on console. Now maybe we will only see this on Ps3 but that would be a shame because at one time Microsoft was the a leader in peripherals.

Over G is a sim, but yes the controls are obviously simplified so it's a "light" sim. Flight and weapons work properly. The basics are there so you can just concentrate on the most enjoyable parts: flying and fighting.

LOMAC...I don't want that on here. Many controls would have to be automated but also the sims I have are so DRY that eventually they feel more like a trainer, not an enjoyable sim. There's a fine line between sim---entertainment and sim---trainer. I'm not going to be flying an A-10 but I do like flying one in a light sim. That's why I like Wings Over Europe. It's got my favorite planes without even any mods and it doesn't work you to death to enjoy flying. A light sim, which is something that might actually have a place on a console, like BOP.
Raw,, there is no reason that we can't see a Scalable Sim on console. Bop has done this to a degree and I personally would love to see it done even further. From Arcade mode clear to Hard Core Sim,, with Sim mode having support for Keyboard and Pc Sticks.

I agree, and I'd like to see it.
The controller isn't so much the limiting factor as what people are willing to learn to DO with a controller. OFDR packed a lot of control in there, and it works very well, but most people complain since they aren't willing to actually learn how to use it. I use Pinnacle with some pc games and you can jam pack a lot on a 360 controller, and that's without any radial menus.

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned 'MiG Alley'. It was a GREAT Korean War flight game. I had many a fun times, gunning down both sides. Wish they'd make a remake with newer graphics and better detail to the planes. And include the ability to fly the Yak-9s.

Ok I didn't understand.

Did that game come to the US? Because I heard it didn't. I have Aero Elite which is very similar.

I dunno. I heard of it for the first time when I looked it up yesterday. The trailer looks awesome for a ps2 game.

Ah, maybe I'm confused then; I was under the impression that for all intents and purposes Over-G was just an updated version of Energy Airforce rather than a new game, hence the Energy Airforce logos in the opening sequence. Either way it's surprisingly good for a game that certainly can't be considered a sim.

I don't think the original game on PS2 came here, but I could be wrong. OGF is on 360 and it's the sequel. And it is a sim, it's just a light sim like BOP.

Funny, I have always used my gamepad for pc sims. I have to resort to the keyboard for some things, but all the most vital commands fit on the sticks and buttons. I just leave the less common things to the keyboard.

If pc sims allowed me to assign key combos, I doubt I'd use the keyboard at all. Throw L1 combos in there, and there's another 13 or 14 commands to map. Add 3-button combo mapping, and you could fit hundreds of functions on one gamepad.

If they won't do it in a BOP patch, any sequel should fix this stuff:

WEP: The climbing ability of some planes in BOP is ridiculous with all that extra power.

Crash/ kill credit bug.

wheel brakes - dammit.

more planes.

The one thing I would most like to see go, at least optionally, is the WEP. It amounts to having afterburners on prop planes, and it distorts the combat.
