Default PS3 No Longer Recognises My Joystick

I would really appreciate some guidance here.

I have been an avid combat flightsim fan for some 10 or so years now and I decided to branch out and try the "console option" ... once, of course, I had ascertained that one could purchase a compatible joystick for the PS3.

I bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS joystick and on my first attempt at BoP, the joystick was recognised by the PS3 and worked fine (apart from th very large dead-zone, which, I believe, is "staying").

Ever since this first flight, the PS3 does not recognise my joystick and will only take commands from the "gamepad".
I have unplugged the joystick and plugged it back in to the USB port- I've gone under "options", then "controls" and have made sure that Thrustmaster Layout 1 has been selected (applied) ... but still the joysticks existence is ignored by PS3!!

Has anyone got and suggestions?? ... I'm starting to "pull out my hair" with frustration.

Thanks, in anticipation.

It probably decided to wait for the patch like the rest of us.......

Sry, had to do it, I'm not sure about the PS 3 as far as hardware goes, but when the patch is released PS3 will get a deadzone adjusting option.

There aren't a ton of people left on these forums, I'd prob check on the thrustmaster website, ya might get a quicker answer.

good luck!

AX

This might seem obvious but the switch on the back is set to PS3 and not PC?
I accidently switched mine and the same thing happened...

Look at the switch.

I checked ... it's correctly set to PS3, not PC.

Any other suggestions?

It's so damn annoying because the joystick was working!

This is all I could find, sorry if its old news;

- Your joystick’s USB selector (3) must always be set to the “PS3” position before connecting your joystick to the console.

- In “1 Player” mode: If your official gamepad is on, you must switch it to “controller port 2” in order for your joystick to be functional.

- On PlayStation® 3, the joystick is only compatible with PlayStation® 3 games (and will not function with PlayStation® 2 games).

- When connecting your joystick: Leave the handle, rudder and throttle centered and do not move them (to avoid any calibration problems).

Thanks a lot axhat - you got me on the right track!
I found that my joystick became "operational" again when I moved the (gamepad) controller to port no. 1.

Back to the tutorial!
