Most development teams are very good and take great pride in their work. It's publishers that come between the developers and the communities like a chaperone at prom, killing all the joy.

In my experience, the people that make games - and I'm talking about the people on "the frontlines" doing the actual coding, textures, modelling, sound, animation etc - are more motivated by a desire for appreciation of the final product than anything else.

It's the guys in suits (that tend not to be gamers either) that ruin it for everyone. Unfortunately they are also the ones that a) get rich off everyone else's hard work and b) put up the funds to get the game to market.

Very few studios can afford to say "it'll be done when it's done". But the ones that can afford that stance, often put out some great games (Rockstar North, iD...).

Hey developers/publishers/whoever is responsible for this series, frankly I don't want to hear about sequels or PC versions at least for another year or two. I want to hear about fixing the version I bought or rest assured it will be the last Sturmovik I ever buy. I've had a lot of fun with the limited time I've been able to spend with this game, but I'm not made of money and I expect this product to be supported for more than two weeks after its launch date. Otherwise, what faith do I have in buying your next product, which will probably be bungled just as badly post-release?

Why not get 1946? It maybe a bit grey at the corners, but it's still a good reliable Il-2. But I'm guessing, your just a console player? (No problem with that, just saying you probably are because of your lack of interest in the PC version.)

As for WWI, I will be joining you very shortly, I ordered OFF today and I'm going to get Rise of flight , in the next month. What kind of rig are you using to run these WWI sims ? I just built a new AMD 3.0 ghz quad, I just have the intergrated Nvidia 750a sli right now but I'm looking to buy a nice card to link with the intergrated card. If you get a chance, tell me your rig and what graphics level your running on the game. I'd appreciate the info.

Ahh Desode nice to hear from you again. Yes the game is Over Flanders Fields and it is excellent!

I was running an Evga 750iFTW motherboard, with a q6700 processor overclocked to 3.6ghz water cooled, with two 8800 ultras in SLI. My primary monitor is the gateway 30" xhd3000 at 2560x1600 resolution and I have flanked it with two dell 20" 2007fps at 1200x1600 resolution for a total of 4960x1600!

Tomorrow I should be receiving my new q9650 processor which I will quickly be overclocking to 4ghz and a crossfire motherboard because I have jumped ship from Nvidia and purchased an XFX 5870

Because I have monitors of different resolutions in portrait x landscape x portrait mode, eyefinity currently does not support it, so I have to use SoftTH in order to take advantage of my tripple screen setup!

=O That. Is. EPIC!

I remember playing one of those for a Gran Turismo simulator at a car show, but I never thought a household gamer would have one XD

Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! When people ask was it Lee Harvey Oswald that shot and killed BOP, the answer is no, no it was not LHO, but rather the lack of this one simple item. You see when you have a limited community for a niche product, the last thing you want to do is segment the consumer into isolation where they cannot join or enjoy the limited numbers of players available. Otherwise, you will piss off the limited number of consumers that sit in their big fat lazy boy wasting thirty minutes of their life and their 120" projector bulbs life looking for a match that will never come. And after a limited amount of these wasting activities said customer will buy two more monitors and then enjoy their favorite PC sims at 4960x1600 resolution and not look back at the Russian console developers that love to put nuts in vices.

In soviet Russia, not only does the game patch you, but it also pleasures your woman better, abuses your sports car and smokes your last cigarette!

And Goat I enjoyed our few skirmishes where you violated me in ways I never thought possible with a La-7, but I fear my console flying days will be few and far between as I have enlisted in WWI

Well my friend... I will always enjoy the memories of violating you.

Once you can take a break from that SWEET ASS GAMING RIG then send me a message and we can fly again. Who knows, I may use a Yak 3 next time.

I would join the Civil War if I had a rig like that.
Yess I will venture back into console land every now and then. I just buried my DID standard "Dead is Dead" German ace "Baron Gobel Hornswaggle Von DiamondWulf," he had 21 confirmed kills and over 40 unconfirmed, he earned a blue max, two iron crosses and the holzen! I would start a new guy, but I gotta wait for my new mobo an processor for tomorrow before I can get goin on a serious DID bender again!

Yep, I would hate to see what you could do to the competition if you had a rig like this! A 180 degree field of view, plus track ir and an amazing hotas setup with the logitec g940...yea you'd be a scary sob! Let me know when you win the lottery, so I can build you a dream setup! Over half the fun of pc gaming is building and tuning the computer!

I actually am a PC gamer too. Normally I would be very excited about Wings of Prey but as I explained in another post here, I feel a little p-oed about how we were given no warning it was coming out for PC 'cause I would have skipped the console version in favour of it. Now that I have the Xbox version I don't really feel like spending another $40 on essentially the same game just to get the "best" experience. I wish they'd spend their time incorporating those updates into the console version we all paid for rather than going off making PC versions and a sequel.

You know, I think I might (get 1946) because at least its cheap. I have Forgotten Battles from way back.

I alpha tested Frontlines fuels of war for THQ back in the start of that game.
It had a very ruff start, but the Dev team stuck with it and fixed every issue and added a ton of features that the community asked for. It lost a lot of players but in my opinion once they were done fixing it,,, it was one of the best Battlefield style games to ever hit console. 50 players/ every vehicle you could imagine and drones to boot, zero lag, and proximity chat , I mean you name it they put it in there. Its a shame that there won't be a FFOW II because they had just about everything ironed out and the sequel could have been one of the best MP games to ever come to console.
I know my hat will always come off to the FFOW's Dev team, they were some the best and it was a honor to work with them and see how they took care of their community despite publisher pressure.
FFOW is one of my favourite games ever bar none!! I would love to know any interesting anecdotes you could share about its development. I too really wish there was a sequel (though it's theoretically possible that the upcoming Homefront is set in the same universe).
