Couldnt agree more. Whenever i run out of ammo after long periods of flying, i usually land on the nearest airfield/field and bail out.

Maybe its just me but that way i dont feel dirty for crashing

I totaly agree with Morgoth. Another thing limited ammo adds is another dimension in the planes weaponry, As not all planes have the same amount of ammo. So do you take a plane with lots of guns that run out quickly, or do you choose a plane that has less guns but with a good amount of ammo.

I think one way the developers could easily take care of the problem of having to die to re-arm, is to have a re-arm option next to the bail-out one in the menu. You then get respawned with new ammo and no penalty points, but you keep any damage you had previously aquired. Obviously this isn't great but it is do-able, For a secual a proper return to base and rearm sysyem I think should be used.

This gives more chance for the prey to avoid the predator. And also, it give you reason to try and avoid gunfire. Normally when I have a better turning plane on my six, I just let him 'chew me up' (will try to turn a bit, but wont go rolling etc) if I cant see any other target. If it is limited ammo, I will jump and dance all around, hoping he will run out of ammo.

Why do you care about a streak?it wont give you anything... Do you think it is more fun to have a streak, then to actually have to dogfight to get your kills?
I prefer someone on my six running out of ammo and crashing to get new. Then to have a guy who starts shooting with his G-6 from 1.5 km, and keeps on shooting for 5mins. Even a monkey is bound to hit something if he does is like that (and 1 with form a 30mm can be more than enough) As long as ammo-less people crash when they have no bandit on their 6, its all fine by me.
Well when you put it like that it does sound quite cool. I guess I've been conditioned to care about kill/death ratio a bit too much. Plus, I'm that shooting monkey...

I might give it another go, and challenge myself to see how many kills I can get on one ammo load. But come on - limited fuel is bloody pointless... That really is like lighting a fuse on each and every plane. Maybe you could argue that you should choose a plane with a lot of fuel? Maybe the P51 might actually have a use after all lol

limited fuel is pointless . I've only 1 time ranout of fuel. This was when it was limited fuel/unlimited ammo. I was flying the whole game without dying, and just in the end my engine stoped (not because of too much wep).

Most planes have enough ammo for an average of 3 kills. some will go down in a 1sec burst, others just dont want to die :p. So unless it will take you 20 mins to get those 3 kills and not dying, you wll run out of ammo way before you run out of fuel.

Maybe the me163 is bothered by it, in real life it only had 7 mins of fuel.

i too dont like crashing when i run out of ammo ? i used to just fly in a straight line trying to pick up a bandit works most of the time ..

so is it frowned upon to bail out if you run out of ammo ??

Not at all in my opinion. As long as you make sure there's no one on your six there's no reason not to bail/crash. Some people like to use their plane as ammo, which is also a valid option .
