Default Arcade difficulty MP

Currently playing a team battle online and its on arcade difficulty (only game i could find online) and theirs currently 16 players in the room and little lag... its epic, yet i feel let down so need some help..... (i've landed at Kul'tstan)

Im flying the SPITFIRE XVI and other player are flying mostly the different
109's.

Theirs a fair variety of planes here anyway, but what i need help with is the following (since i dont play arcade, this is a first tbh)

is every plane on a level playing field? by this i mean, do they all have the same turning ability, same attributes other than firepower??

im getting into turn fights with 109's and the 190's (aswell as the others) and im struggling, if were flying in a straight line.... im not really gaining, nor loosing, it seems the same.

Im not finding this any fun what so ever. Its pretty shoddy. Granted, 16 players in the air at once with minimal lag looks great, tracers everywhere, smoke trailing from planes, epic dogfight, looks superb, Just the overall performance that im fazed by.

Anyone know what the deal is??

cheers guys.

Thats what i though, so changed it all back up again but their was little difference. Arcade seems to put everyone on a level playing field. Maybe i was just having an off day??

Dont plan on playing arcade again anytime soon.

Don't forget to use your rudder when you can while turning. It can make a big difference.

I use that anyway, i have the saitek AV8R-02 joystick, but only got it a couple of days ago. Maybe that could be my prob? the switch from pad to joystick??

Sim and realistic seem great, you can make the most of your aircrafts strong points and your enemies weakness. Yet with arcade... hmmm.

Ah well not to worry, i'll stick to realistic and sim from now on, i wont be venturing near arcade again anytime soon.

cheers for the help fella's

I'd play any mode all day if there were 16 players.

You should out turn a 109, Have you left your elevator sensitivity turned down from playing realistic/sim because that would account for you not being able to out turn them. When playing arcade it need to be turned up to max again as you cannot stall.

Its such a shame that the majority of unarranged games get played in arcade mode.

It seems that arcade levels the vast majority of any planes abilities so its more of a shooting gallery than a tactical flight sim.

That said, I can understand that if IL2 was to appeal to a whole market and not just a niche market it needed to have this.

Were it up to me, I have a mode for complete new comers that just want a laugh (i.e. the currrent arcade mode) and a mode for people more familier with flight sims, so planes keep there distinct advantages and disadvantages but not so hardcore as to stall everytime you turn slightly too hard.

Also I'd keep realsitic and sim for the hardcore as well.
