They are working on the new FM as we speak. As an added bonus the DM, etc will also be vastly improved. All for less than $100 dollars. Unfortunately only a few aircraft will have the new FM's etc in the first addition, but you will be able to pay more for further aircraft with the new FM's in future updates.

Let me guess, Luftwaffe planes get ubered, and the Spitfire gets porked, is that about what you want?

The Luftwaffe was shooting cannons in the 109's. That is a heck of a lot of firepower compared to .303's. So.. no doubt the Uber arguments will start in some of the first postings after the SOW release. If anyone wants to get a little taste of what the BOB SOW will be like I suggest getting the BOB II WOV 2.08 version. You will really get a feel for what it will take to be combat effective in the BOB SOW, especially flying The Spits and Hurricanes. Last edited by nearmiss; 07-30-2008 at 05:16 PM. |

![]() The original post is about FM changes for 4.09, not SOW. As to RAF combat effectiveness in SOW:BoB, much will depend on a more detailed DM then we currently have in '46. One that will allow a more accurate portrayal of machine gun damage.

Salute
Let's not forget accuracy. The MG/FF 20mm that the 109E3's were equipped with was a low velocity weapon, very inaccurate, far less easy to hit with than a .303. This is not the same weapon that equipped the later model F,G and K, the MG 151/20, which had a much higher muzzle velocity. The MG/FF also had 60 rounds per gun, only about 7 seconds of fire The MG/FF was a good weapon for taking down a non maneuvering bomber, but a hard maneuvering fighter? No. A number of German pilots who flew in the BoB said they thought the RAF aircraft were equipped with better guns against fighters. So we have the curious situation of a British Fighter force, equipped with weapons better suited to take down fighters, primarily tasked to attack bombers, while on the German side, we have aircraft with weapons which are better to take down bombers, primarily tasked to attack fighters...
