I have just been made employee of the month at work. Not quite sure why but they have a monthly meeting with all the staff and bestow the 'honour' on some unsuspecting victim who gets hauled out in front to have their hand shaken and photo taken with the production manager for the company news letter. You also get an extra days holiday, which is nice. £50 of Sainsbury's vouchers which were lifted by the wife the moment I got home.
But what is an absolute hoot is you get the designated employee of the month parking space at the front of the building where all the directors park their Jags, Porshes and Audis. The problem is that I drive a 12 year old Citreon Zara that has put three of my kids through their driving test and is regularly driven by the wife who has as much spacial awareness and parking skills as a blindfolded bull in the proverbial china shop. I don't think it has a panel that has no dent or scratch, infact most panels are more dent and scratch than panel. The plastic bumpers are held together with duct tape where they have been used to locate objects whilst reversing or mowing down an assortment of rocks by the road and badgers or anything else which wanders in the way. It only has two wheel caps and one and a half wing mirrors plus the interior has been trashed by 5 kids. And, because it is such a state it rarely gets a clean. I normally park right at the back of the farthest employees carpark out of embarrassment but I am so tempted to take them up on their offer. |

I would if I were you. And if they comment, ask for a pay rise.

ROFLMAO! Yeah and say, you dont pay me enough. Dont worry though, a car is the worst investment "the man" ever came up with.

Ha Ha! Excellent ideas. Sadly I get paid as much if not more than the supervisors so the response to a pay rise request is likely to be a bit frosty. Especially from our HR dept who are basically a bunch of hatchets whose prime raison detre is to screw every last shekel out of the workforce whilst remaining legal. It's not so much what I earn as what I spend. Or should I say what my wife and kids spend on my behalf.
To be honest, as long it passes the MoT and starts most mornings so I don't over run the AA call out quota I don't really care. The thought of my lot getting their paws on anything more expensive than something one wheeze away from the scrap yard is scary. My only consolation is that the wife's car is even worse. Its an S reg Hyundai Atoz, automatic, more dents and pretty much non existant brakes. I think if I was to go up market with transport it would have to be post divorce. Perhaps I might take a few snaps tomorrow after work. |
