Default Oleg, update for hardware coding?

Oleg,
How about an update on hardware coding? What's in? Quad core? PhysX or Havok support? I ask because I will build a new system in the near future, probably before the release of your sim. So any hints about what might give me good game play in your sim will be appreciated.
Here's a blast from the past. Remember when you used to use an email list to udpate your fans before IL2 hit the skies? Ahhh the good old days!

I'd like to wait until the sim is released, but life goes on and another sim is on the near horizon (Black Shark, where a good card will need plenty of texture fill rate power, even on an old engine like that one). Then there's KOTS, and a few other combat flight sims coming out. If I held true to waiting until Sow_BoB comes out...well who knows when that's gonna be? I have to replace a fried system one of these days, and well it might be nice to be given a hint. Ya know? Just a little sum~n sum~n. Oleg's probably sticking to the old credo of having the most powerful desktop pc there is, then turn down the settings until you get an acceptably playable experience. So i might as well withdraw my request, and go for what I can.

I was recently in the same situation. I just had to get a new rig. I went for the best Mother board I could afford (XfX 790i Ultra) with 2 Gigs of DDR-3 RAM (Smallest ammount I could get), a e8500 CPU (now over clocked to 3.8GHz on the stock intel cooler) and a 9800GTX Graphics card.

The idea being that latter on I could add more RAM and the fastest Quad core that I can afford, and extra graphics cards when they comes down in price and when BOB comes out.

I know the best advice when buy computer hardware if you can wait (Moores law is great for hardware buyers!) BUT at some stage you just have to bite the bullet and upgrade.

It's good to have a plan for the future!

Hopefully I've made the right choices???????

You can't make the right choice. If you want the best PC available, you have to wait forever.

@99th_Flyby

You won't get an official answer, but if the best rig for BoB was the limit, I'd go for a Quadcore and a decent video-card. At the moment, I'd either get an 9800GTX like Skoshi Tiger did or wait for what ATI is coming up with, if you have the time. I'd also go for 2x2048 MB RAM and I mean fast RAM, not value RAM.

Honestly, I'd buy the same rig for IL2, too. Of course it cannot natively support 4 cores, but that really doesn't matter at all. Just dedicate IL2 to Core1, TrackIR to Core2, Teamspeak to Core3 and the other major processes to Core4.

And the PhsyX hardware? Considering the current developments, I'd save the 50bucks and wait for what will be released when BoB hits the shelves. ATM it's just good for eyecandy and I doubt that will largely change over the next months.

It seems unanimous. I'll buy the best system I can afford with an eye towards upgradability.
