Default Raising an old issue, again, and will continue to do so

Developers, when can we have this back again?

Give me a good reason why we have the current "factory fresh" planes with zero weathering looking all sand-blasted and scruffy and not like the above photos? Why did you decide to make the original planes uglier? Yes, luthier, try to type a few lines now and then that are not code!

They probably wanted the sim to look worse so nobody else would buy it, or had to turn down effects so the sim was playable atleast until the sim was further optimized, and average comuters more powerful.

I'm not a game developer but I'm pretty sure that the weathering of the planes have barely any performance impact on the game at all, then they would have had to remove the slider altogether now wouldn't they?

P.S There are games out there today with object textures light-years ahead of CloD's and they run fine on even lesser hardware.

I'm not a game developer either, but I know optimizations take different forms, some lower textures, and others optimize the texture code. I'm sure there are finished highly optimized games out there that have decent textures that run on lesser hardware, but that doesn't mean much, as there are so many other variables.

P.S. Its possible its a bug the developers might not be aware of, or a way to save resources, by masking the higher textures with less detailed weathering, either way it doesn't hurt to remind them. I can see them leaving the slider in until the feature is improved. Its just more work removing the slider, that wouldn't have much of a priority. Overall its a complex, difficult, resource juggling act they are going thru.

Im pretty sure they have turned down the texture quality to. Now, in black death for example, the surfaces on ac`s look terrible up close even at max settings.

Example with everything set to max with original texture:

Completely flat surfaces, not even close to the Spit pic and it doesnt even have AA witch my examples have.

The first and third pics look especially gruesome. Almost looks like if they v cut back on the poly count to.

Or there is something seriously wrong with my graphics card or driver, or both. Im starting to think thats the case cuz the trees on the second pic look od and pretty ugly to me. Anyone else got the same look?

Totally agree with addman, these non weathered skins went off the weathering slider probably a year or more ago now and one can't understand the reasoning why!

At the start of the BOB,brand new factory aircraft looking like this would have been filling the British squadrons in their hundreds as they were 'fresh'off the factory,to replace what we lost during the battle for France,so it makes historic sense to have them enabled again.

Got a feeling this request will fall foul on those same deaf ears again though, just as comms, the AI,the FM's and all the other constant requests that make this sim worth playing have.

A nice try though addman

Yes I believe so too, just look how long it took and how many threads and posts it took to get 100 octane! lol! Anywho, I would really appreciate if the developers could just give an OFFICIAL explanation why they gimped the planes. No need to fix it's too hard for them but just a rational explanation would be fine.

Fractory fresh in reality never existed as all planes were flown to bases.
Any real pilot will tell you after one flight only, the leading edges of most planes of aircraft get sandblasted buy air, moisture and other particles.
Wear and tear will be small at 1st but factory fress dosnt last long in reality.
Not to mention dead flies and suchlike.
Engienes run with rich mixtures at low altitudes giving rise to black soot exhaust marks, grey soot if at high atitude as mixture weakens also.
No one worrid about exhaust emissions in 1940.
However pics look awsome detail, except for no pilot in the office.
