Default jdome - a step towards 180° FOV?

Just stumbled upon this all new product.

It's a half-spheric projection-screen that can be used for background-projection to simulate a nearly 180° FOV. So far it seems only the prototype exists, but it could be a real step into full immersion if used with a homebuilt cockpit:

The funny thing is, the inventor only had Ego-Shooters in mind, but I think this could be really great for flightsims!

Thats pretty cool, but I'm waiting for this technology to mature! (next 10 years or so maybe?)

You would probably need some sort of motion tracking to workout where your looking! (TrackIR 8!!!!!)

I'm not sold on the jDome. Using fabric as the screen surface lends its self to a very fuzzy image, great for FPS but for those who have a hard time seeing dots in the distance forget it.

The best solution for this sim, and BoB for that matter, would be multi monitors.
